Good Race!

The Back To School Race was a great success. Thanks to the eleven racers that came out to participate. Congratulations to Chris first geared racer and first overall; Shea first single-speed, Michael first track, and Lisa first woman racer.

Many thanks to all our checkpoint volunteers who made the race possible, especially Justin and Kenny for helping on such short notice. Thanks also to the party house people for supporting and accommodating us. Pay attention for information regarding upcoming events and races.

MAP

After completing the preview ride of the Back To School Race, I have some comments to share. I never before considered the fastest route from Catholic University to Gallaudet University, and then to Georgetown Law. Make sure to be familiar with whatever route you choose between checkpoints. The link for the checkpoint map is re-posted here.

Race Q & A

While distributing race fliers today people had some questions about details. To clear things up:

What time is the Back to School Race?
October 3 @ 6:00 PM *** Registration begins @ 5:30 ***
Do I need to bring a messenger bag?
No. All you need to bring is a pen to complete your racer manifest, a pocket to stash it, and of course.... a smile.
Are there different categories?
4 categories: (men's + women's) * (geared + single-speed)
Is there a prize?
No prize; this is a friendly race for guts and glory. Winners will be recognized, but only awarded respect.
No prize? Then where does my $5 entry fee go?
Instead of a prize, all of the entry fee money will go toward the afterparty.

I can't race but I want to support. Do you need more volunteers?
YES, we need more volunteers for checkpoints (see the post below). We're trying to build a sense of community among DC cyclists, so even if you don't want to race and want to come hang out at one of the checkpoints and meet people all are welcome.
Where exactly will checkpoint volunteers be?
Exact addresses of the checkpoints will be posted before the race and printed on racer manifests.
